Bat Care Services
Common questions about bringing your bat to us for maintenance and preparation.
No booking is required for most services — walk-ins are welcome during showroom hours (Tue–Fri 9–5, Sat 10–3). For knocking in, we recommend calling ahead so we can give you an accurate turnaround time. If you want to be sure someone is available to help immediately, give us a ring on +44 1603 650050 before you visit.
Oiling, anti-scuff fitting, toe guards, and re-gripping can usually be done same-day or while you wait. Knocking in is a longer process — expect 7–10 working days as we work the blade gradually over multiple sessions. Most repairs are also around 7–10 days, but more involved jobs (major cracks, re-handles, full refurbs) can take longer depending on the extent of the damage. We’ll give you an honest timeline when we see the bat.
See our full price list above. Most basic services are between £7–£15, with refurbishment from £20, and major repairs or re-handles from £30–£70 depending on the work involved. We will always quote you before starting any work — no surprises.
It depends on the crack. Minor surface marks and small edge splits can often be repaired with adhesive and binding. Deep structural cracks through the face or splice may mean the bat is beyond economic repair — we will be honest with you about that. Bring it in and we will take a look at no charge.
Absolutely. Our bat care services are available for any bat, regardless of where you bought it. We work on all brands — Gray-Nicolls, Kookaburra, GM, Chase, and everything in between.
New Bat Preparation
Just bought a new English Willow bat? Don’t take it straight to the nets. Raw willow needs preparation before it can handle the impact of a cricket ball. Bring it to us and we’ll get it match-ready properly.
Our full new bat preparation service includes a light oiling to condition the willow, a professional knock-in across the face, edges, and toe, an anti-scuff sheet to protect the surface, and a toe guard to prevent moisture damage from damp outfields. You’ll leave with a bat that’s ready for day one of the season.
